Although I don’t use electoral or political symbology directly in my work, the idea of elections about anything that might be decided that way encouraged me to build a machine capable of simulating a heartbeat and reproducing it over a loudspeaker placed inside a voting urn. I decided to fill the urn with pubic hair until the loudspeaker was covered, to see how the vibration of the hidden loudspeaker would make the hair oscillate. In the end there wasn’t enough pubic hair because I ran out of friends, so I added hair until half way up the ballot-box.
At present the piece is disassembled and I used the acoustic mechanism to operate HISTÒRIA DE LA MÚSICA.
I clearly remember the hypnotic heartbeats and the throbbing hair in that erotic ballot.
