Roca Umbert, Granollers
In the studio where I work there is no room for anything. When I want to see a piece from a distance I have to imagine it. In 2012 I rented the Sala Zero in the Roca Umbert Art Factory in Granollers for two or three days, for the price they asked. Up until then I had never imagined I would do such a thing, but there were several I wanted to see placed as I would do for an exhibition, take some photographs and shoot a video of them with an acoustic climate.
The thing had to go fast because between putting it together and taking it down there was hardly any time left to do the job. At the same time, the Roca Umbert people wanted to present it as a programmed exhibition. Lets call it a program paid by me and certainly destined to be the shortest exhibition ever shown on their premises.
No problem. Nihil obstat. I have seen worse.
When I added up the number of things I wanted to put into it I remembered that a few years before I had made a piece that nailed a sign to: ÈXIT
This piece spent seven years out of doors before being finally relegated to the freezer in the kitchen. Two paintings size DIN A4 very much punished by the weather, and with the following words printed on each of them: EXISTEIXO: NOMBRE DE VISITANTS and EXISTEIXO: S’ADMETEN APOSTES (I exist: number of visitors, and I exist: bets are accepted).
