After isolating a fragment of about 4 seconds from the piece CORCOVADO, and altering it to obtain a loop repeated without limit, I constructed a large number of various musical fragments that fitted the musical tone and other characteristics, but which were obligatorily adjusted to the musical tempo in such a way that if they were repeated within the loop, they always sounded in a measure equal to that of the initial fragment. This way I could make sounds come in and out without too much or any instruction, like a trickle, because, in the end, everything fitted into the general rhythm ordered by the initial fragment.
I edited 5 possibilities – No. 3 can be heard here – but the possibilities were and are unlimited.
I devised a computer scheme that, on the initial basis, made fragments enter and leave at any time, depending on some external parameters: relative humidity in the street, stock market results of the day, different surveys, etc. In this way, the piece would be modified on the basis of events outside the composition, showing new unpredictable musical facets. It remains as a project.
