Arts Santa Mònica
Jordi Benito insisted so much at Artual, a Barcelona gallery that no longer exists, that in the end he managed to get me to do an exhibition on the first floor. It was not a success.
I presented a series of drawings in ink on glass placed next to their packing cases; the cases were special, made to size, I considered them as significant, or more, than the drawings on glass. It was all displayed according to a careful disposition. More than an exhibition it was an installation.
In time the wooden boxes swelled and imprisoned the sheets of glass in such a way that some of them could never be unpacked again. It didn’t do well.
It didn’t do well, but as opposed to the didn’t do well of the gallery, for whom it didn’t do well because it didn’t suit them to do the show in the first place, though they did it, but it didn’t suit me to do it either, and in the end it was decided that it didn’t do well for either of us at the same time. Jordi gave no importance to the fact that it didn’t do well as long as I did well, or moderately well or slightly well. Like him. To the end.
