La Porxada, Granollers
A sound-installation at La Porxada de Granollers, in which the sound emitted reproduces that of the waves along the coast, occasionally obliterated by the sound of trains going by at high speed, for which various sets of high-power loudspeakers and playback equipment were used and the emission lasted for a long time.
Pursuing the idea of TEMPORAL (Storm), done in 1990, and the interventions in open spaces to be walked across by members of the public who, unaware of the piece, were not there because of any specific interest or invitation to the show, I installed a sound system to broadcast an unusual soundscape, unforeseeable for that particular location. The idea was that fixing our attention only on the sound would carry us immediately to an environment that was utterly alien to reality -accepted as reality- simply by closing our eyes. The contrary would happen if we covered our ears. And if we did neither of the two, a formidably dyslexic composition would ensue, subverting regular sound-image associations, enabling a highly evocative system to arise.
