Roca Umbert, Granollers
I regularly walk along the shore; I listen to the sound of the sea, an endless loop with slight variations. I go there by car, often listening to music. One day I was listening to the album BIG FUN by MILES DAVIS, specifically to the piece called GO AHEAD JOHN, and I had the intuition that I too could go beyond what I was listening to and make a piece that was related to all of that.
Storms on the coast wash up all sorts of materials and deposit them on the sand along the beach. I selected five anthropomorphic objects like a sort of theatrical cast to be shown transfixed by a voodoo support onto their packing case. A case on which they could be shown, protected, supported, kept, exalted, obscured, staged, concealed, forgotten, and which, because of its volume in the composition, was much more present than the perforated stars of this ghostly musical group.
